“What’s in a Name? What Labels Do We Use?,” March 7, 2021

The congregational theme for March is Respect. Jenny Walter, a practicing attorney and founding member and vice chair of Coast Pride, addresses the mental health issues facing local LGBTQ teens. Jenny was the first co-chair of the San Mateo County LGBTQ Commission and served on the commission for five years. She will talk about her efforts in advancing LGBTQ equity in our public schools on the Coast. In celebration of National Namesake Day, March 7th, Jenny talks about how the layers in belonging, being seen, and claiming one’s identity can be honored by the use of proper pronouns—without assuming assignment based on gender. Beautiful music is provided by Tom Devine, Mo Robinson, Vera Vanderschalk, and Shauna Pickett-Gordon.
