“Church, Community, and Vision,” June 19, 2022
The Touchstones Theme for June is Prophetic Imperative. We welcome Tom Devine to the UUCC pulpit on June 15th, with a sermon entitled “Church, Community, and Vision.” Tom shares his thoughts on the purpose of church services — and especially of two key elements of a service—preaching and singing — in fostering community. He brings in ideas from poet-prophet-philosopher William Blake (1757-1827) about the nature of Human Consciousness, Imagination, and Vision.
Tom is a recent graduate of the Shared Pulpit class and contributes to UUCC Sunday services as our music director. Tom lives in Half Moon Bay and enjoys cooking, gardening, walking in the Coastside’s beautiful outdoors, spending time with friends, and sharing music and poetry.
(As a reminder, for now only 1st Sundays are in-person services at Odd Fellows Hall. For Tom’s service, on a 3rd Sunday, we will be gathering over Zoom as usual for 3rd Sunday services.)
