“An Invitation to Play,” July 2, 2023

The Touchstones Theme for July is Play. Why is it difficult for so many of us to play?

The July 2nd service, “An Invitation to Play,” promises to be exceptionally fun. Revolving around reflections by Esther Wallace, M.Div.Bill Heavlin, and Noreen Cooper Heavlin, we examine the historical religious roots of downplaying fun, the importance of full body worship, and the expansion of imagination and creativity that play offers. Attendees are invited to move, sing, interact, and — most of all — to laugh. Diedrik and Kaj Edholm and Vera Vanderschalk all contribute lively music—yes, they play. Those living with less fun are especially invited.

This live in-person service takes place at Odd Fellows Hall, 526 Main Street, Half Moon Bay, CA, 94019, on July 2nd11am. As a courtesy to some of our elders, UUCC recommends mask wearing for churchgoers throughout the service—with the exception of those actively speaking at the front of the room. For social distancing, Odd Fellows Hall is quite spacious, with a new high-circulation air ventilation system.
